Fast Food Delivery Insurance
Fast Food Delivery Insurance — Hire & Reward for Takeaway Drivers
Fast food delivery insurance is a specialist hire and reward policy for drivers and riders who deliver hot food for payment. The moment you take a paid takeaway order — whether on a moped, scooter, car or van — your standard social, domestic and pleasure cover is void. A rejected claim after a single bump can wipe out months of earnings and leave you driving illegally, so the right policy is not optional.
We arrange cover for Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat riders, in-house drivers working for takeaways and restaurants, and multi-site fast food operators running their own delivery teams. Policies are available on UK and EU driving licences, with monthly instalments, short-term options for seasonal work, and flexible terms for part-time and shift-based riders.
UK Sure is an FCA-regulated broker with access to a panel of UK insurers that specialise in food delivery risks — including drivers with motoring convictions or claims. If you have been quoted by Zego or a platform's built-in cover and want a like-for-like comparison, we can almost always find a sharper price or broader cover. Why Our Fast Food Delivery Insurance
What's NOT Covered
Key Features of Our Fast Food Delivery Insurance
Fast food delivery insurance is built for short-trip, high-frequency work — not a stretched private car policy. UK Sure arranges cover that fits the way takeaway riders actually ride.
Multi-Platform on One Policy
Ride for Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat under a single hire and reward policy — no juggling separate cover per app.
UK & EU Licences Accepted
Full UK and EU driving licence holders welcome, including riders new to the country and drivers with previous convictions or claims.
Whether you are a full-time rider, a student delivering a few evenings a week, or a takeaway owner running an in-house team, we will match you to an insurer that prices the work correctly — with monthly instalments, short-term options and clear add-ons for public liability, employer's liability and goods in transit.
Frequently asked questions
1. Do I need special insurance to deliver food in the UK?
Yes. Standard car or moped insurance only covers social, domestic and pleasure use plus commuting. The moment you carry a paid takeaway order you are working for hire and reward, which is excluded by default. You need a hire and reward policy that lists food delivery as the use.
2. Is the platform's own insurance enough on its own?
Not usually. Platform-provided cover from Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat is typically third-party only and only active while you have an order in progress. It does not cover you between deliveries, on the way to a restaurant, or for damage to your own vehicle. A standalone food delivery policy fills those gaps.
3. Can I get part-time or pay-as-you-go fast food delivery insurance?
Yes. We arrange flexible policies for riders who only deliver evenings, weekends, or a few shifts a month, including short-term and pay-as-you-go style cover. Tell us how often you ride and we will match it to the right insurer.
4. What happens if I deliver food without hire and reward insurance?
Any claim will almost certainly be rejected, leaving you to pay for damage, injury and third-party costs yourself. You also risk a fixed penalty, six points and possible vehicle seizure under the Road Traffic Act for driving without valid insurance for the use.
5. Can I use my personal car or moped for fast food delivery?
Yes, but only with the correct hire and reward extension on your policy. You cannot legally rely on a standard private policy, even for occasional shifts. We can quote on the vehicle you already own — no need to switch.
6. What is the difference between courier insurance and fast food delivery insurance?
Courier insurance is built around parcel and multi-drop deliveries — typically vans and longer routes. Fast food delivery insurance is rated for hot-food, short-trip work on mopeds, scooters and cars. The risks are different so the policies are priced and underwritten separately.
7. Will one policy cover me on multiple food delivery apps?
Most policies we arrange let you ride for Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat under the same cover, as long as every platform is declared up front. If you add a new app later, tell us first so the cover stays valid.
